Whether you’re into Dungeons and Dragons, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Marvel, DC or even Archie Comics, every science fiction and fantasy geek at Fan Expo Regina this weekend.
You might remember WolfCop – the movie about a hard-boozing cop who just happens to turn into a werewolf. Fans of the Regina-made movie will get a chance to watch a sneak peak of the sequel this weekend.
Opening in Germany, the Phillipines and Australia, the original movie has gained a following around the world.
“For a little Saskatchewan werewolf movie, it’s been getting around,” said director Lowell Dean.
“It’s travelled way more than I have and I’m a little jealous of WolfCop.”
He will be doing a question and answer session at Fan Expo Regina where he will introduce a preview of the movie that just wrapped filming last month.
“To get to do a sequel to a movie that I had a great time making is honestly just a dream,” commented Dean.
He said he actually came up with the idea for this movie before the first one.
“Just because I thought, oh you know, it’s just such a weird story, I don’t want to do an origin story, I just want to jump in the middle,” Dean explained.
Dean describes Fan Expo as a sort of mixed up prom event.
Regina will also play host to other guests coming from Hogwarts and the Shire.
Sean Astin, best known as Samwise Gamgee from Lord of the Rings and Mikey from the Goonies is one of the major guests featured for the Fan Expo this year.
British actors James and Oliver Phelps who play the comical twins Fred and George Weasley in the Harry Potter franchise will also be part of the Fan Expo.
Austin Powers fans can also watch out for Verne Troyer who plays Mini-Me.
The expo opens at Canada Centre East Evraz Place on Saturday morning at 10a.m.
