Saskatoon Stars denied medal at Esso Cup

Kate Lloyd stopped all 18 shots she faced as the Rocky Mountain Raiders blanked the Saskatoon Stars Skaters 3-0 for the bronze medal at the Esso Cup on Saturday afternoon.

Breanne Trotter had a goal and an assist to lead the Raiders in the third-place game of Canada’s national women’s midget ice hockey championship. Hailey McCallum and Hanna Matchett rounded out the attack with power-play goals.

Emma Johnson made 18 saves for Saskatoon.

Later Saturday, the Brantford Ice Cats played the Express du Richelieu for gold.
