A Saskatoon man has been charged with first-degree murder after a fatal stabbing in Sutherland over the weekend.
Officers were called to the 700 block of Central Ave. around 1 a.m. Sunday morning, after witnesses called about an injured person who needed help.
Police said officers and paramedics were directed inside the business by witnesses where they found an unconscious man suffering from stab wounds.
The man, an 18-year-old from Winnipeg, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. His identity is not being released at this time.
With the help of witnesses, officers immediately took a 29-year-old Saskatoon man into custody at the scene.
After an investigation by several police units, the man was charged with first-degree murder.
Police said the victim and the accused were known to each other and it’s believed an initial fight began in a vehicle nearby the business, which led to the stabbing inside the building.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
This is Saskatoon’s fifth murder of 2016.
