Much like his B.C. counterpart, Premier Brad Wall still gets an extra salary from the Saskatchewan Party.
This issue has been raised for a second time because of the news headlines generated about Christy Clark.
Since 2011, Clark has received about $277,000 from the B.C. Liberal Party to top up her government salary.
Much like he first did in 2007, Wall receives about $37,000 from the Saskatchewan Party each year for business outside of his legislative duties.
The money is viewed as a payment for events like leaders’ dinners, speeches and the like. It has been pointed out by party insiders that Wall does not hold private exclusive-type events for patron-like guests.
Wall’s extra salary is reported publicly each year and was cleared by the Conflict of Interest Commissioner’s office.
Wall and Clark are the only premiers that receive such a salary. Others have their expenses covered.
