A 27-year-old Saskatchewan man faces charges after the death of a baby in January.
Saskatoon police said officers received a 911 call around 8 a.m. on Jan. 29 regarding an unresponsive eight-month-old baby girl at an apartment in the 100 block of Avenue P South.
The baby was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
At the time, police said the 27-year-old man was arrested and charged with several breaches of conditional sentence order.
After conducting an investigation, autopsy and consulting with Crown prosecutors, detectives believe the baby was asphyxiated as a result of actions by the suspect.
Saskatoon police said the man was arrested Thursday morning and charged with manslaughter, criminal negligence causing death and failure to provide the necessities of life.
He is expected in Saskatoon Provincial Court Friday.
