A 20-year-old man was back in a Saskatoon courtroom Wednesday facing a charge of second-degree murder.
Miguel Gomez was arrested May 19 by Edmonton police. He was the subject of a Canada-wide warrant following the Apr. 16 death of 22-year-old Matthew Herman.
Herman died in hospital of stab wounds sustained during an alleged fight in the parking lot of the Canarama Shopping Centre at 7 Assiniboia Drive. At the time, an 18-year-old man was also found suffering from stab wounds. Police reported that he was treated in hospital and released.
Police reported that Herman and Gomez were not known to each other.
Gomez made a brief appearance in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Wednesday morning. He had his charges read to him, and indicated to a judge that he has not yet hired a lawyer. He will remain in custody until his next court date on June 8.
