Rain falling in Saskatchewan Thursday seems to have come at a good time as the crop report shows 81 per cent of seeding is done.
The southwest region is furthest ahead, with 90 per cent of the crop seeded. The southeast follows at 87 per cent, the northwest at 84 per cent, the west-central region at 83 per cent, the northeast at 75 per cent, and the east-central region at 68 per cent.
Some areas of the province had several inches of rain over the past week. Eighty-three per cent of topsoil moisture is ranked as adequate; hay land and pasture top soil is rated as 72 per cent adequate.
Crops that have already emerged are doing well. The crop report says the majority are either at or ahead of normal development for this time of year.
Some damage has been reported due to flea beetles, cutworms, strong winds and moisture issues.
