Riders GM Jeremy O'Day joined the Green Zone on Wednesday.
For the first time, a woman will serve as deputy minister to Saskatchewan’s premier.
On Thursday morning, Premier Brad Wall announced Alanna Koch will take over the position when Doug Moen leaves the position at the end of June.
Koch, who farms with her husband near Edenwold, has served as the deputy minister of agriculture since 2007. She’s also worked with the Canadian Agri-Food Trade Alliance and the Western Canadian Wheat Growers Association.
“She is well respected by both the public service and by elected officials and I look forward to working with her to advance our government’s growth agenda and keep Saskatchewan strong,” Wall said in a news release.
Koch officially takes over July 1.
