It was an early wake up call for a few residents in Buena Vista.
Just before 4:30 Friday morning, a home in the 100 block of 8th Street caught fire.
One of the people living in the home smelt smoke and alerted the house.
“I opened the window, heard crackling outside and realized that wasn’t right. Went down to take a look and the kitchen had grey smoke starting to move into it,” the resident said.
“So I woke up the house and called 911.”
Saskatoon Fire Department dispatched three engine companies, a ladder truck and a rescue truck.
When they arrived, officials said crews found smoke and flames coming from the back of the home. The resident who spoke with CKOM News said it appears to have started on the back deck.
