Regina police are investigating an alleged sexual assault that took place in the downtown Wednesday afternoon.
Police say around 5:30 p.m. a 23-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in an alley in the 1800 block of Scarth Street — between 11th and 12th Avenue. According to reports, the suspect followed the victim into the alley, sexually assaulted her, and was scared off shortly after.
The victim was not seriously hurt and did not need medical attention.
The suspect is described as a man, black, about 20-years-old, 5’9″, with a scruffy beard. He was wearing a black ball cap, red shirt, blue jeans, and glasses.
Update: police say allegations were false.
Following the investigation on June 17, Regina police concluded that the allegations by the woman in this case were false. Officers say they found independent evidence that cleared the suspect.
