It took nearly six hours to end the standoff in Regina’s Windsor Park neighbourhood on Friday, and on Sunday charges were laid on a 30-year-old man.
Police were called to Brittania Place, just off of Windsor Park Crescent in southeast Regina, late Friday morning because a man was reportedly threatening himself and others. Officers from SWAT, crisis negotiators, and the canine unit showed up as well.
The man eventually agreed to the leave the garage he was in, and is now being charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and careless storage of a firearm.
He’ll be in court on those charges on Monday.
