Filling up a vehicle could be a bit of a hassle for people in Regina on Sunday, as most Petro-Canada gas stations in the city are out of fuel.
Some stations still had premium grade fuel, while others were completely out. Attendants at a couple of stations said it could be two or three days before they got more.
On Friday, Petro-Canada’s parent company, Suncor, said it was a combination of the Fort McMurray wildfires and an unplanned outage at an Edmonton refinery causing the shortage.
The company is reporting temporary shortages at Petro-Canada stations in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and at sites in B.C.
Gasbuddy.com’s senior petroleum analyst, Dan McTeague, said this could be trouble for the summer driving season, as it’s hard to know how long the shortage would last.
Suncor said it’s bringing in more gasoline and diesel by truck and rail from its own network as well as third parties, saying it’s difficult to know when supplies will return to normal.
