Regina Catholic School Divison overpays employee for over 25 years

Regina’s Catholic School Division is trying to get back thousands of dollars that were overpaid to an employee over 25 years.

According to the loss report tabled by the board of education for the last quarter of the 2015-16, the losses happened between 1989 and 2015, and altogether the employee was overpaid by $164,119.

The report said the employee was being paid at a level “not supported by applicable qualifications”, and didn’t report it to the division.

The employee was fired, and the division is trying to get the money back. The division also said it’s reviewed other employees at that pay class to make sure they’re all being “appropriately compensated”.

The Catholic school division in Regina is also trying to get $2,579 back from a different employee. This time the person was reportedly using a school division credit card to buy things unrelated to work. That person was fired, and the division said it’s made procedural changes so it doesn’t happen again.
