An employee of the Co-op Refinery in Regina was taken to hospital after coming in contact with scalding liquid.
Speaking on behalf of the Co-op Refinery, Brad DeLorey said the incident happened Thursday at about 8:45 a.m. He said the worker was making an inspection when liquid was released.
“Some of the hot diesel did spray onto this worker onto his calves,” he explained.
The employee was immediately taken to the Regina General Hospital. His condition is not known.
“Our first priority is the health and wellness of this employee and then we immediately will begin an investigation as to see what happened,” added DeLorey.
He said the area was isolated and a pre-investigation occurred before work with Occupational Health & Safety begins. Operations at the refinery were not said to be affected.
