Tuesday was distribution day in Rock 102’s Bikes for Kids campaign.
About 200 donated bikes collected over the weekend were given out to kids at Princess Alexandra Community School.
Before they were delivered to the school, each bike was checked over by mechanics.
The campaign has run every year since 2007, giving away some 1,900 bikes in total.
Rock 102’s Shack said that even though Bikes for Kids has become an annual tradition, he never gets tired of seeing children light up when they’re given a set of wheels.
“You will go up to a kid and give them a bike and they’ll think that they get to ride it for a couple days, and that’s it. But then you tell them ‘no, this bike is yours for good. You get to keep this bike,” he said.
Bikes for Kids is the result of a collaboration between Rock 102 and Care and Share Saskatoon.
