PiNK nightclub and Lounge in Saskatoon is hosting an event Saturday night for in honour of the victims and survivors of the mass shooting in Orlando.
“We just felt like this is our way of taking back the bar, so to speak,” said Skipp Anderson, owner of the club. He said they were responding to requests from their patrons to have a night in solidarity with people in Orlando.
“Just letting them know that we’re not going to let anything like this stop us.”
Well-known Drag Queen Rhea Litré will be coming to the event. Anderson said that she contacted them to see about doing something as she has preformed at Pulse, the Orlando gay bar, many times. Litré’s close friend was among the 49 victims.
Anderson said Litré won’t be doing a massive performance, but rather a couple of numbers throughout the night while hanging out with people at the event.
“They can share their stories with her or with each other if they choose,” he said.
All funds raised at the event will go to the victims of the shooting.
