RCMP have laid charges after a fake gun was brought to a Yorkton high school Monday afternoon.
A boy faces five charges after officers seized a replica gun from the Yorkton Regional High School. The boy’s age is not being released and the RCMP aren’t saying whether or not he was a student at the school, as it may identify him and his identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Mounties took the boy into custody shortly after being called to the school around 1:45 p.m. Monday. Another boy was hurt in the incident, but RCMP say it wasn’t due to the weapon.
Charges laid on Tuesday include one count of possessing a dangerous weapon, one count of carrying a concealed weapon, one count of possession of marijuana, and two counts of failing to comply.
The boy makes his first court appearance Wednesday morning.
