RCMP are investigating a possible drowning in southern Saskatchewan.
At 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, Fort Qu’Appelle RCMP responded to a call about a possible drowning at Katepwa Point at Katepwa Lake Provincial Park.
RCMP say a 23-year-old man was swimming in the water with friends when he swam past a buoy where the water drops off and he began to struggle. His friends, and a good Samaritan who witnessed the struggle, tried to rescue the victim who disappeared under the water.
Fort Qu’Appelle RCMP, along with Saskatchewan Environment, Fort Qu’Appelle Fire Rescue, private boaters and STARS Air Ambulance patrolled the area, but have not been able to locate the man.
The RCMP Under Water Recovery Team will arrive on scene Wednesday to assist as the investigation continues.
RCMP are not releasing the name of the victim.
