It was a financial year that in many ways matched the 2015 Roughriders’ play on the field.
The team held its annual general meeting last night in Regina, officially presenting its financial numbers to shareholders.
Chief financial officer Kent Paul revealed the green and white posted a deficit of $4.3 million for the 2015-16 fiscal year, with operating revenues at $39.3 million overall. The deficit is a $6 million change from 2014-15, where the club recorded a $2.2 million dollar surplus.
Ticket sales, however, were up slighting from last season, generating $15.7 million, despite the Riders 3-15 season.
The Riders continued to have the best merchandise sales in the league at $7.2 million, but the number is down more than $2 million from 2014, and the lowest it has been since the 2012-13 fiscal year.
