Police have charged a pair of teens after a spree that began in Wadena and ended in Regina Saturday.
The Regina Police Service says officers first learned about a vehicle stolen from Wadena being spotted in the Queen City around 2:40 p.m.
Three people were inside the vehicle when a “female youth” was abducted from Mount Pleasant Sports Park in the Uplands neighbourhood. A pedestrian trying to stop the kidnapping was hit by the vehicle, which fled the area.
The vehicle was tracked down at 8:20 p.m. after another hit and run on 13th Avenue and Wallace Street. Police say the people ran from the vehicle, but a 16-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl were tracked down nearby on Winnipeg Street and arrested.
Due to their ages, they can’t be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The boy is facing five charges.
- abduction of a person under the age of 14
- assault with a weapon
- failing to stop at the scene of an accident
- failing to comply with an undertaking
- possession of property obtained by crime
The girl is facing one charge.
