A 16-year-old girl has been charged with second-degree murder after a baby boy died in Saskatoon Sunday.
Around 7 a.m. on Sunday, officers were called to a home in the 200 block of Waterloo Crescent where they found the injured infant.
He was taken to hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Saskatoon police opened an investigation into the death, the city’s ninth homicide of the year, and cruisers were seen lining the streets of an area neighbours describe as quiet.
“We’re all in shock,” neighbour Danny Sather said Sunday.
Police took a 16-year-old girl, who is not related to the family, into custody later that same day.
She has been charged with second-degree murder for her alleged involvement.
The suspect is expected in court Monday morning.
