A Regina man has been arrested and charged in connection with child luring.
Rodney Barras, 55, of Regina, has been charged with making sexually explicit material available to a child under the age of 18 for the purpose of facilitating a sexual interference offence, and luring a child under the age of 16 to facilitate a sexual touching offence.
The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit started investigating Barras’ online activity in the middle of June. On Thursday, the ICE Unit executed a search warrant at Barras’ home where evidence to support the charges was found.
Barras will make his first court appearance in Regina Thursday.
The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is made up of investigators from the RCMP, Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service, and Prince Albert Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/ or exploitation of children on the internet.
