No people were hurt, but a cat was killed in one of two house fires overnight Friday.
According to Regina Fire and Protective Service, the first fire started in the basement of a home at 841 Robinson St. around 6:30 Friday night.
No one was home at the time, so the fire was called in by a neighbour. Crews had it under control within 10 minutes.
The cat died in the second fire – that was called in around 12:30 Saturday morning. It was in the basement and main floor of a home at 1113 Rae St – which is about six blocks southeast of the first fire.
Again, no one was home at the time, so the fire ended up being called in by police. The flames were under control within about 18 minutes.
In both cases there’s no word on the extent of the damage, or what caused the fires. An investigator will be looking closer at the fires early in the coming week.
