Police have arrested a 37-year-old man after a traffic stop near Confederation Place Saturday morning.
Officials say an officer was about to pull over the driver at 9:18 a.m. when he got out of the car and remotely popped the trunk. He spoke with the officer briefly then ran away. When the officer got a closer look he noticed a sawed-off shot gun in the trunk and called for back up.
Police arrested the man a few minutes later in the 800 block of Northumberland Avenue.
In a release police say the 37-year-old man is charged with unsafe storage of a firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm in a motor vehicle, possess a firearm without a license, possession of a controlled substance and numerous breaches of his conditions from three separate court release documents including a probation order.
