While farmers in Arborfield and Carrot River are able to return home, their crops might not be as lucky.
Bud Charko, of Carrot River, was one of multiple farmers in the area to report that up to 80 per cent of his crop was underwater as of Thursday. It comes after intense storms dropped more than 152 millimetres of rain in the last few days.
“I was up in the plane earlier today, and it looks the same for the rest of the R.M,” he said Thursday.
A mandatory evacuation order for the area has been lifted.
There is no official word yet from the Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation on the amount of damage being claimed. A dollar figure will not be available until the area dries up and officials can make an estimate.
