Water service returning to rural areas outside Prince Albert

People living in the R.M. of Buckland are breathing a sigh of relief.

Most users of the Prince Albert Rural Water Utility had their water turned back by Friday, including Buckland. 

Ken Danger, the manager in charge of the utility, said Thursday the distribution system north of the river is operational again.

“It’s taking us a little while to charge it up, but I’m thinking most people have water now. If they don’t, it should be there shortly,” he said.

While the process is taking a bit longer for users in the R.M. of Prince Albert, Danger said his crews are in the process of trucking in water for users south of the river.  

“We had facilities in the north that were more conducive to doing this already in existence that’s why we’ve got water to our people north of the river already,” Danger said.

“We are trying to put some temporary facilities in place so we can do something similar on the south side of the river.”

The water is being trucked in from various locations including Melfort, Saskatoon and Waskesiu and hauled to residents who have signed up for delivery. An additional truck is running the routes, which Danger hopes will speed up deliveries.

All subscribers to the Prince Albert Rural Water Utility are being reminded the system remains under a precautionary drinking water advisory. Residents are encouraged to conserve water and boil their drinking water.
