These are the latest in a total of 50 requests for proposals (RFPs) released this summer as the Saskatchewan Government moves towards an expanded private retail system for booze. The transition will see 40 government liquor stores switched to the private sector plus 11 new stores. The conversion of the SLGA store in Melfort will be delayed until 2019 when the current lease expires.
The RFPs for this set of permits closes on September 13. In early July the province put out RFPs for two stores in Regina and three in Saskatoon which close on August 8. The deadline for bids on private liquor stores in Yorkton, Kindersley, Melville, Lloydminster, and Moose Jaw is August 30.
