A 26-year-old man is facing a drug charge after a cab driver called police thinking he’d seen a gun.
The cabbie flagged down a patrol car near the intersection of Avenue I South and 17th Street West around 5 a.m. Friday.
The driver told the officer he’d seen someone come out of a home on the 700 block of Avenue I South carrying a gun when he dropped off a fare.
The officer and the taxi driver went back to the home.
Police said in a media release the recently dropped-off passenger then got back into the front seat of the cab.
He was arrested after allegedly getting aggressive when the police officer started questioning him.
Police said a search of the cab turned up a baggie of cocaine. A replica airsoft pistol was reportedly found inside the home.
The 26-year-old suspect was charged with drug possession.
