A Saskatoon restaurant has been nominated as one of the top new places to eat in Canada.
Little Grouse on the Prairie is included in the list of 35 restaurants by Air Canada’s in-flight magazine, enRoute.
“It’s great. We obviously take a lot of pride in what we do,” said Dale McKay, the restaurant’s chef proprietor.
McKay’s work has made the honour roll before – in 2014, he won the same contest with Ayden Kitchen and Bar, located just down the street from Little Grouse on the Prairie on 3rd Avenue.
“We were hoping to recreate what we were able to do three years ago,” McKay said.
Little Grouse on the Prairie focuses on modern Italian cooking. McKay said patrons can expect to enjoy pallet-pleasing, made-to-order dishes like tortellini with shallot, and crispy skin sea bass with tomato and cannellini beans.
“We’re in a warm heritage building. It’s a very friendly and warming room,” he said.
The local eatery is the only Saskatchewan nomination. The list also includes two restaurants from Calgary – Charbar and Whitehall – along with Uccellino in Edmonton and Máquè in Winnipeg.
Voting is now open online and the top ten winners will be announced in November.
