The Roughriders have picked up one international and one national defensive back in a trade with the Calgary Stampeders.
International DB Fred Bennet is a five year veteran of the CFL. In 73 regular season games with Calgary, the 32-year-old from South Carolina has made 166 defensive tackles, 10 interceptions and seven forced fumbles. He was also named a West Division All-Star before winning a Grey Cup with the Stampeders in 2014.
Edmonton native Jeff Hecht is in his sixth CFL season and has spent five years in Calgary. Also playing 73 regular season games with the team, the 30-year-old has picked up 50 defensive tackles and 37 special teams tackles.
The Riders have traded two negotiation list players in exchange for Bennet and Hecht.
