Mark Messier is her distant cousin, but this Sask. hockey product is carving her own path.
A week three loss to Calgary was quickly put to bed as the Saskatoon Hilltops rebounded to beat the Edmonton Wildcats 53-16 Sunday afternoon.
The ‘Tops opened up to a 21-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back, scoring seven touchdowns by the end.
Running back Josh Ewanchyna led the way with three touchdowns. Sam Mike and Jason Price (2) added receiving TD’s and Adam Machart ran in one more.
A powerful offense was buoyed by a defense that held strong and gave up only one touchdown in the game.
With the win, the Hilltops move to 3-1 on the season, good for a tie with Regina for second place in the standings.
That tie for second will be broken in Saskatoon’s next game, a Sept. 10 meeting with the Thunder at SMF field.
