Jean Moss loses "truck of my dreams" after drunk driver hits several vehicles in Moose Jaw

Jean Moss was enjoying the Dolly Parton concert when she found out her car was one of the five that got towed away after a drunk driver collided with several vehicles.

Moss said she was “in shock” when she heard her license plate announced over the intercom.

“I was really in shock. My mother-in-law said to me that I was white.”

Moss said she is lucky her and her mother-in-law, who is 80-years-old, were still inside when this happened.

“If we would’ve been sitting in that vehicle and he come around the corner like he did and crashed into us, we wouldn’t be around.”

The truck she owned was a 2008 Ford Explorer Sport Trac and she says it’s a tough truck to find because production stopped in 2010.

“That’s the truck of my dreams. I bought that truck from Langley B.C. and it came from Victoria. It had no kilometres on it. The thing was like brand new,” Moss said.

“For me to try and replace that truck is very difficult.”

This is yet another incident involving drinking and driving in the province this summer.

Moss said more has to be done to those who decide to get behind the wheel after drinking.

“There has to be harsher penalties for them. They get a slap on the wrist, nothing really happens. They kill somebody, they get five year, ten years, and they have to get a lot more than that.”

A 30-year-old male from Moose Jaw is charged with impaired driving, his license suspended and vehicle impounded for a month.

Police say he caused an estimated $100,000 in damage.
