The Saskatoon Blades improved their goaltending situation — and bring a Saskatchewan boy home.
The Blades made a swap with Seattle on Saturday, acquiring goalie Logan Flodell in exchange for defenseman Anthony Bishop.
Flodell, a 19-year-old Regina native, is coming off his first full WHL season in Seattle. In 42 games he posted a record of 22-13-4-1 with a .904SV% and 2.68 goals against average. and three shutouts in the 2015-16 season.
It is hoped that the addition of Flodell will help Saskatoon to improve on a tough season defensively in 2015-16. The Blades gave up 318 goals last season, second most in the WHL.
“Logan is an athletic and skilled goaltender who will provide us with a solid veteran tandem going forward this year,” said Blades GM Colin Priestner. “We believe him and Brock Hamm will give us a chance to win each night and he will provide us with key experience coming from a great program in Seattle.”
The Blades will use Flodell in a tandem with Brock Hamm, who carried the load in goal in 2015-16.
Flodell will join the Blades this week.
