Drugs stolen from a Saskatchewan pharmacy have turned up in a major bust in Alberta.
Lethbridge police recovered $100,000 in prescription drugs including fentanyl and oxycodone. Sixy-thousand dollars in property, including firearms, jewellery, and vehicles were also found.
In a statement on its Facebook page, the Lethbridge Police Service said all of it had been stolen from communities in Saskatchewan and Alberta.
The investigation got underway after a break and enter on Aug. 30 in Lethbridge led police to three suspects.
“A search warrant was subsequently executed and police recovered two stolen rifles and an assortment of other stolen property. Two men – an 18-year-old and 19-year-old – were taken into custody and a 35-year-old male left the city in a stolen vehicle,” police said in a statement.
On Sept. 13 a 35-year-old man was arrested.
A search of a residence in connection to the 35-year-old turned up even more.
According to a release: “seven additional rifles were located inside the home along with assorted stolen property and a significant quantity of narcotics – roughly 8,000 pills – including fentanyl, oxycodone and hydromorphone.”
More charges are expected to be laid as police continue to investigate.
