Three armed suspects are on the loose after trying to rob a farm hand in west-central Saskatchewan.
Around 11:40 a.m. Monday, the man noticed a black SUV parked on a grid road while he was driving back to the main house.
He said two men were standing in the road with what looked like hand guns and a third person was just out of view.
One of them pointed a gun right at his truck.
The farm hand is ex-military from a war-torn country and used his training to get to safety. He then called the farm owner for help.
“In his mind, where he comes from and his background he thinks if he stops he’s dead,” the farm owner told 650 CKOM Monday.
“He accelerated my truck and drove right at the guy in the centre of the road,” he said. “He didn’t try to hit the guy…he pulled into a field and called me.”
The three suspects drove off.
All three had their faces covered with what looked liked bandanas according to the farm owner.
RCMP said one suspect has a long dark-coloured pony-tail, another has orange curly hair but there is no description for the third person.
Kindersley, Rosetown, Eston, Kerrobert, Unity, Biggar, Swift Current Rural, and North Battleford Detachments, as well as Swift Current PDS and volunteers flying in planes, responded to the call in the search for the suspects and the vehicle.
All schools in the rural areas were placed into a hold and secure for precautionary reasons, but that was lifted around 3 p.m.
Fiske is about 30 kilometres west of Rosetown.
