They commemorate Mr. Hockey and will be wore for one afternoon only.
The Saskatoon Blades unveiled their special edition jerseys Wednesday to be worn on Sunday at their home opener against the Swift Current Bronco’s.
“They look good,” Goaltender Brock Hamm said. “Little bit of old school cream and a lot of history on those jerseys.”
The players don’t get to keep them, they’ll be auctioned off to raise money for Gordie Howe’s research fund for Alzheimer’s.
“Coming to work is like Christmas everyday,” said President of the Saskatoon Blades, Steve Hogle. “They’re drop dead gorgeous.”
Not the only thing to be auctioned off, a signed Wayne Gretzky and Gordie Howe photo will be a part of the bidding, along with several other items.
