Two men from a northern Saskatchewan First Nation have died in what police say is an apparent murder-suicide.
Beauval RCMP received a call around 2:43 p.m. Saturday of a gun being fired at a home on the Canoe Lake Cree First Nation.
Police said when officers arrived, they found a 27-year-old man inside the home with an apparent gunshot wound. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Around 4:49 p.m., officers found a 30-year-old man, believed to be involved in the incident, was found with an apparent gunshot wound in a treed area on the First Nation. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two men knew each other and their names will not be released.
RCMP are not looking for any other suspects at this time and add there’s no risk to public safety.
Autopsies will take place in Saskatoon sometime this week.
Canoe Lake Cree First Nation is located 178 kilometres northeast of Meadow Lake.
