Home construction is on the rise in Regina with projects in the millions this year.
Over the last nine months, there has been an increase in residential construction with 1,352 housing units being built compared to 1,189 for the period last year.
“It is good to see the residential building activity that has taken place this year,” said Mayor Michael Fougere in a statement.
“Regina’s housing market is beginning to bounce back after cooling down, which shows that residents are more comfortable and confident in our economy.”
New residential construction topped building activity in September with $20.1 million in building permits issued, an increase of 56 per cent from this time last year.
New permits issued in September for projects valued at more than $1 million include a $3.5-million permit for a new office building on Windsor Park Road, a $1.8-million permit for the new joint-use school in Harbour Landing and new construction at the Co-op Refinery valued at $1.7 million.
