The time to evaluate the quarterbacks not named Darian Durant should start this weekend for the Roughriders.
While Durant gives the team the best chance to win, winning isn’t necessary the most important. Getting a good look at quarterbacks around Durant is.
Now don’t get me wrong, Durant needs to play in some action. I’d give him half the time at quarterback but the stars align for a decent opportunity to look at both Mitchell Gale and Brandon Bridge down the stretch.
This weekend, the Riders play the Argos — Mitchel Gale’s former team. The team that didn’t think he had much worth in their QB stable.
The same goes next weekend for Brandon Bridge and his former team in Montreal.
Durant should still start those games, get a good half of football in but it’s time to evaluate more than pile up meaningless victories.
As for the final game of the season in B.C., Bridge gets the start and maybe the full game. He’s the one you need to see more than any other QB.
That leaves one game. The farewell game at Mosaic. The penultimate game of the season. That’s Durant’s game from start to finish. He gets to turn out the lights at the old place as the QB who won the biggest game there in its history.
