The 2013 Grey Cup champion Roughrider team will be recognized on Saturday when the Green and White host the Alouettes at Mosaic Stadium.
When fans think back to that game, they will no doubt think about Darian Durant’s contributions to that victory. Durant is still top of mind, because he is still a Rider. The same can be said for a player like Rob Bagg.
It is important to remember the architects. GM Brendan Taman, who was fired just over a year ago, faced alot of pressure to get that Rider team in to the championship game since the Riders were hosting the Grey Cup. Geroy Simon and Dwight Anderson were key additions that year. Taman was responsible for those moves.
Then there is the coach Corey Chamblin, who empowered his players to an 11 and 7 finish and a strong playoff push.
After the game I asked George Reed about the Rider win and he thought it was the biggest game in franchise history.
When a legend such as Reed gives that game that endorsement, one realizes how special it was, and how important Taman and Chamblin were to making it happen.
