Mayoral candidates cast their vote, make final push

After weeks on the campaign trail, there’s no letting up for the candidates vying to be mayor of Saskatoon.

“We’re going to be phoning people and we’re going to be out talking to people ,” said incumbent Don Atchison, who cast his vote alongside his wife Wednesday morning at the Willows Golf and Country Club.

Atchison was initially not allowed to vote when he mistakenly displayed his passport at the polling station instead of the proper identification. The mix up was quickly resolved when he went to his vehicle to retrieve his drivers license.

After casting her vote at Caswell Community School, a smiling Kelley Moore summed up the feeling of voting day finally arriving.

“It’s the most incredible feeling ever. It’s been the most amazing experience of my life,” she said.

Moore said Tuesday the final hours of her campaign will be spent with volunteers and knocking on businesses.

“It’s going to be a fun filled absolutely insane day, and I can’t wait for it.”

Charlie Clark began the day with a run before casting his vote in the morning.

Even though the campaign is winding down, Clark said Tuesday there is now slowing down.

“Helping whatever way I can. Cheer people on. It’s going to be a very exciting day.”

The other candidate for mayor is Devon Hein.
