In media circles we call it “the money clip”.
On Tuesday Leader-Post reporter Murray McCormick asked the man in charge, Chris Jones, how he would grade his own performance this season, and he said “Not very f***** good.”
There have been many things about Jones’ first season that has been discouraging to the Rider Nation. There was the release of fan favourites John Chick and Weston Dressler. The team also didn’t extend a contract offer to Chris Getzlaf. All three of those players will play meaningful football in November. The Riders will not. There was the desperation move of signing defensive lineman Khalif Mitchell after he had sat out for a year. At times it seemed as if there was no direction.
Fans should be encouraged about Jones’ response to the question of his performance. He appears to realize he is among many that need to be better.
