Wray Morrison: Now that's baseball

The curses of the billy goat and Bartman are now over. The Chicago Cubs are World Series champions. 

The image that stands in my mind of this series came in Game 5. Cleveland pitcher Trevor Bauer hit a fly ball to right field. Right fielder Jayson Heyward of the Cubs made an unbelievable catch. It was so good that even Bauer applauded. The sportsmanship between these teams, during this series, was refreshing.

Both of these clubs appeared to take on the personalities of their managers. Before the series started, Cleveland manager Terry Francona applauded Joe Maddon for the way he was able to keep a clubhouse together. Maddon spoke glowingly of Francona saying Terry was easy to get to know and a very good manager.

It was great to watch playoff baseball without wondering who may charge the mound and when the next punch would be thrown. There was no noticeable hostility or volatility. It was just a series that featured two great managers who managed games the way games were meant to be played.
