For the eighth straight season, the U of S Huskies are one and done in playoff football. The Calgary Dinos handed Saskatchewan a 47-17 loss Saturday afternoon.
The first of two Saturday semi-finals in Canada West had a slow start, with the Huskies up 1-0 at the end of the first quarter.
The offense began to pick up in the second with Tyler Chow running in a short yardage score to put the Huskies up 8-0.
But that was when Calgary came alive. The hosts exploded for 40 straight points stretching into the fourth quarter. The Dinos racked up over 400 yards of total offense with quarterback Adam Sinagra tossing three touchdown passes along the way.
The U of S tried to make a game of it in the fourth. Mitch Hillis took a Drew Burko pass 82-yards for the score, which was quickly followed up by a safety. But that was as close as the Huskies would get, making another early exit from the postseason.
Calgary will face the winner of Regina and UBC in the Hardy Cup. Those two sides square off at Taylor Field Saturday afternoon.
