Braylon Shmyr was the hero as the Saskatoon Blades beat the Kootenay Ice 3-2 in overtime Saturday night. The 19-year-old forward scored thirty-five seconds into overtime for the Blades’ second straight home victory.
Mason McCarty chipped in with the other goal while captain Wyatt Sloboshan tallied three assists. All three Blades goals came on the powerplay.
“It was really clicking today,” Shmyr said post game.
Logan Flodell stopped 36 of 37 shots in the win. The Blades win comes a day after a 9-6 loss to the Pats in Regina.
“I liked the effort,” said Blades head coach Dean Brockman post game. “It’s a hard week for a young team and I’m proud of how the guys responded.”
The Blades now head on a three-game Alberta road trip. It starts Thursday in Edmonton against the Oil Kings.
