There are many things that I love about sports. One is when teams and leagues take time to honour the women and men of the military on both sides of the US-Canadian border. Fly overs at outdoor events and camouflage jerseys are common place at every level of sports. Some get tired of it. We shouldn’t.
A sporting event is my choice for entertainment. For some the choice is theatre and for some it’s concerts. For me it’s being at the rink, the court or the field.
I’m going to state the obvious. The dedication of soldiers, some who survived conflict and some who didn’t, gave us and still gives us the freedom to enjoy this lifestyle.
Honouring the brave men and women who served our country with a moment of silence, a camouflage jersey or a fly over is nothing new. I’ve seen it countless times – yet it never gets old.
