Getting home safely during the holidays just got easier.
Operation Red Nose kicked off its eighth campaign in Saskatchewan Tuesday.
Anyone looking for a ride home, along with their vehicle, can call the volunteers at the Red Nose line from Nov. 25 to Dec. 31.
Two drivers and a navigator are then dispatched to ensure both car and driver makes it home safe.
“Our message is if you don’t feel fit for any reason – you’ve been drinking, you’re tired, you’re under medication – don’t get behind the wheel,” said Marie-Chantel Fortin, the national development co-ordinator with Operation Red Nose Saskatchewan.
Numbers for Operation Red Nose in the province are as follows:
- Saskatoon: 639-480-6673
- Regina: 306-949-2400
- Prince Albert: 306-763-6673
- The Battlefords: 306-446-7177
While rides are free, donations are accepted with all money raised staying in the community for youth programs.
“If somebody doesn’t have money we’ll gladly drive them home, it’s all about safety,” Fontin said.
In 2015, Operation Red Nose provided 929 rides in the province with help from 634 volunteers.
Anyone willing to volunteer can fill out a form online, so long as they have one day available during the campaign.
