There is a happy outcome for one family after a car was stolen with a sleeping baby inside.
It happened close to the lunch hour Thursday when police first received a call at 11:30 a.m. It came from the mother who had run into the baby store Groovy Mama on 13th Avenue.
The child was inside the running, but locked, vehicle when before the mother knew it, the car was gone.
An anonymous call came in from a pay phone at the mall on Sherwood Drive and police found the vehicle shortly after on Regency Crescent at 12:30 p.m.
The one-year-old was unharmed and reunited with her mother.
Police do not yet have a description of the suspect.
“It is still under investigation but we don’t have anyone that we are looking at at this moment,” explained Inspector Trevor Ewart.
Regina Police Service was in the process of issuing an Amber Alert before the anonymous tip came in.
