A Regina man is going to need a bigger wallet after cashing in on a Western 649 ticket worth $2 million.
Trevor Ouellette was on his way to his daughter’s hockey game when he heard there was a winning lottery ticket purchased somewhere on the prairies for the Oct. 29 draw. Later that day, he checked his ticket and found out he was the big winner.
Ouellette said in a news release he checked the ticket on a WCLC mobile app, and originally thought he had won $200,000. His wife pointed out to him there was an extra zero.
Ouellette plans to use the winnings to take a trip to Disney World with his family. He also plans to pay some bills and pay off his mortgage, as well as add to his retirement savings.
He said “it’s nice to know that I have a lot of options. I can work for another few years and then retire a little earlier than I thought I would.”
Ouellete purchased the ticket at a Superstore Gas Bar on Prince of Wales Drive in Regina.
