Icy roads were a factor in a fatal highway collision west of Shellbrook Monday evening.
Shellbrook RCMP were called around 6 p.m. to a head on crash involving a semi and a car on Highway 3, approximately 20 kilometres west of town.
The driver of the car, a 67-year-old woman, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The passenger, a 71-year-old man, died at the scene.
A 30-year-old semi driver from Edmonton was treated at the scene by paramedics.
Both people in the car were from the Shellbrook area; however, RCMP are not releasing the name of the victim at the request of the family.
Traffic on the highway was restricted to one lane for most of the evening.
The collision remains under investigation.
Shellbrook is located around 45 kilometres west of Prince Albert.
